From November 10–14, Don Soffer Aventura High School will celebrate World Kindness Week. Kindness week is a global initiative focused on promoting compassion and positivity within communities. Each club and honor society at DSAHS has designed a creative way to encourage kindness through different activities.
Key Club will kick off the week with “Kindness Clips.” Members have decorated clothespins with encouraging messages and will be pinning them on students as they arrive in the morning. Their goal is to spread positivity right at the start of the school day. On the other hand, although still taking a creative approach, The Art Club will take a more personal approach by creating handmade cards for classmates and teachers. Each card will express appreciation, reminding people that their presence makes a difference.
Members of the National Honor Society (NHS) are designing kindness-themed posters filled with motivational quotes. These posters will be displayed around the school to inspire students to treat one another with empathy and respect. Similarly, Model United Nations (MUN) will be promoting “Kindness Across Borders.” Each member will write kind messages in different languages from the countries they’ve represented, along with English translations.
Achieve Miami will make and distribute bracelets with positive affirmations. Their goal is for students to “carry kindness” with them throughout the week and pass it along to others. The Technology Student Association (TSA) will be using its digital creativity to design and send out digital kindness posters to classmates and administration. Each design will have uplifting messages and images that encourage positivity.
The National English Honor Society (NEHS) will combine literature and kindness by putting short, inspiring messages onto bookmarks. These bookmarks will be handed out around campus, giving students something to hold onto and use on a daily basis. Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society, will put a fun twist on mathematics by creating graphs with smiley faces and cheerful designs. These displays will show that math can be both logical and lighthearted when mixed with positivity.

The Jewish Student Union (JSU) will create a large “Words of Encouragement” poster, signed by members. The poster will feature uplifting words and messages for all students to read as a reminder of support and unity. Similarly, the International Robotics Honor Society and Robotics Club will assemble a “Gear Up for Kindness” wall display. Each paper gear will feature a kind message written by students. As more gears are added, the display will show how acts of kindness help the school community function smoothly, fitting the club of robotics.
Finally, Cadena Club will invite students to contribute to a school-wide “Kindness Chain.” During lunch, students can write down a kind act they’ve done or plan to do on a paper strip, which will then be linked together to form a chain displayed in the hallway, symbolizing how kindness connects everyone.
World Kindness Week isn’t just about one week of positivity. It's about building a community where kindness never stops being spread.
